write_on 2020: love in the time of corona

How fortunate that this bizarre time of self isolation would coincide with National Lettering Writing Month! For the past few years, I’ve been participating in a letterwriting campaign called #write_on. Each day in April, you write a letter. It’s that simple. Make the envelopes as fancy or as simple as you’d like. I prefer to go all-out.

for the love of letter writing

Letter-writing is one of my favorite modes of correspondence. It’s not the most convenient way of telling something to someone - it’s just above telegrams and smoke signals. I daresay most people believe it to be outmoded, old-fashioned, and altogether obsolete. I disagree! I think it’s one of the best ways to communicate - and here’s why I love it.

write_on 2016

Last April does not seem like it was a year ago, and yet, here we are! I've been looking forward to Write_On since I sent off my final campaign letter on April 30. I have sent plenty of letters since then but there was a real air of excitement throughout the month of April as I sent off letters and anticipated replies in my mailbox. Because it's a simple joy to receive a handwritten letter in your mailbox. This simple joy is becoming less and less common and it's a shame to see a perfectly good simple joy slip into obscurity, especially when beautiful stamps, pretty paper products, and the postal service still exist.

12.25.15 [books for the year]

Last year I made a post about all the books I read in 2014 with short reviews that may have been read by nary a soul. But nonetheless, I'm continuing the act and starting a tradition by sharing all the books I read in 2015. It was a wonderful year of reading. I finally jumped on the Harry Potter bandwagon and am now a proud Hufflepuff. I read a few classics that I've always wanted to read. One of my book selections led me and my husband to Oklahoma City to serve Joe's Addiction through painting. You just never know where a book will take you.
