write_on 2020: love in the time of corona
Hello, friends!
It’s been an insane past few weeks, there’s no doubt about that. As we’ve all begun to adapt to a new way of life that ebbs and flows each day with new announcements on what is safe, what is good, what is different — I’m thankful for the few things that remain steady. One of which is the solace and joy found in receiving a handwritten letter. You know I’m a big fan of letterwriting and I believe this time of isolation and safe distance is a time for its merits to truly shine.
How fortunate that this bizarre time of self isolation would coincide with National Lettering Writing Month! For the past few years, I’ve been participating in a letterwriting campaign called #write_on. Each day in April, you write a letter. It’s that simple. Make the envelopes as fancy or as simple as you’d like. I prefer to go all-out.
Speaking of - I think I will have around 15 openings in my writing schedule this year for #write_on and I’d love to send you a letter. Feel free to fill out the form below, letting me know your interests (especially TV and movie interests, I just love chatting about that stuff) and your info. I did this a few years ago and was overwhelmed by the submissions - just know I read each one and I’m sorry if you are not picked! I’ll most likely be picking people based on their interests and what ideas come to mind for their envelopes. And this is not a US only thing — feel free to apply from any country, I love getting to know folks from different backgrounds, cultures, and areas.
I encourage you to participate in #write_on this year — the world needs some happiness spread around more than ever. Just remember to not lick the envelopes. ;)
xoxo, Jillian
Letter-writing is one of my favorite modes of correspondence. It’s not the most convenient way of telling something to someone - it’s just above telegrams and smoke signals. I daresay most people believe it to be outmoded, old-fashioned, and altogether obsolete. I disagree! I think it’s one of the best ways to communicate - and here’s why I love it.
