07.12.2013 [the IKEA journey]

ADVENNNNNTURRRRREEEEEEEE!

Well, kind of. An adventure up I-55 to the Schaumberg IKEA. We have a lot of great stuff in Saint Louis. Free zoo, toasted ravioli, free art museum, a freaking large Arch, toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, etc. But the thing we lack is an IKEA. So, we made a pilgrimage up to the Swedish furniture mecca for some bookshelves & a TV stand for our living room; we also went up just for a tiny vacation. It's good to get away sometimes.

“Really, that’s all a vacation is… us eating in a place we’ve never been. ‘Well, why don’t we eat something… then we’ll go and get something to eat. Then we’ll see that thing we’re supposed to see, they’ve probably got a snack bar there, right? After that, we should probably get something to eat, though.”

We ate a lot of good food on our 48 hour trip up north. We had some tasty, tasty hotdogs and fries to give us energy to conquer IKEA. I didn't take pictures inside because all IKEAs look alike, so just google IKEA and you'll see what I saw. You can watch my vine though.

After shopping, we ate some more. But this time, we met up with our good friend, the one and only Czech missionary, Ritch Trca. What a pleasure! We ate at Czech Plaza which was kitschy and wonderful. Dumplings, man. Excited to be dining on Czech dumplings & kolaches again in the country itself in just a couple weeks.

Then it was back to the real world. In this world, you must assemble the furniture you purchase. We got some coffee tables too that work very wonderfully in the space we have but are not pictured because they're coffee tables, get over it. Here is the transformation.

I worked too, I swear.

The IKEA Expedit series is perfect for our vinyl records. The only disappointment with the whole thing was that I have a sweet typewriter I wanted to display on one of the shelves and it just two inches too wide. Hipster disappointment.
