1.18.16 [renaissance hotel]

It has been quite an exciting January already. I'm settling in to my new role at the Foundry Art Centre and just wrapped up a very fun exhibition at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel. Thank you to the Renaissance for featuring me and my work. I would absolutely recommend being a part of this art initiative in Saint Louis; included in this post are details for you to display your work or play your music at the Renaissance Hotel.

My friend Elisabeth approached me in early December about showing my artwork in the lobby and establishing a system for which to hang future shows. The Renaissance has a beautiful lobby with tall curved walls, silvery, shimmery accents and lots of cozy seating to have a drink or get some work done. We established which wall would be best for an art exhibition and the Renaissance team installed this clever system made especially for curved walls.

Installing my artwork was a piece of cake with this gallery system. I kind of want one for my house.

I narrowed down my body of work to typography pieces. As you can see, there are some drawings pieces as well but they had to have type in them to make the cut. There were eight available spots for artwork and I prepared about 15, so I brought the rest of them to my Meet & Greet on January 12, 2016 and the Renaissance provided easels to display them.

I'd say one of the coolest parts of this experience was having my artwork up on the digital billboard on the side of the Renaissance. It was bizarre to see it at that scale, that bright, in that location. I'm not going to lie, it made me a little giddy seeing my name up there. Talk about exposure. There was even a countdown to my meet & greet. Hello, I-70 drivers.

I'm so grateful to everyone who came to the meet & greet on January 12th. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect and the support I was shown was overwhelming. I was able to sell my prints, talk with friends about my body of work, and meet a few people in the lobby that evening.

Now's your chance to be a part of it!
